Recently I was overcome with sadness and grief because of my father's passing- he lost the battle to cancer. My pieces focus on the sadness and grief I was trying to hide and how I overcame these feelings and started to heal. SI # 1 depicts my feeling of extreme misery and despair for the first couple of weeks after his passing. I used a dull saturation to show the emotion of the heartache I was feeling. SI #2 and #5 show how I was starting to accept this sadness and allow myself to feel. In SI #5 I started to synthesize the neon glow which symbolized the healing taking place after his passing. The cars in SI #5 illustrate the mood of chaos that affected me and the people around me. In the later pieces such as SI #11 and #15, show my growth of healing and living without him. The puzzle overlap in SI #7 represents the stumped and incomplete sense I was experiencing after my father's passing. The neon glow synthesizes emotion for all pieces. |
